Disclaimer:
Mindfulness meditation is not a substitute for psychotherapy and cannot be used alone to treat diagnosed pathological mental disorders, such as depression or anxiety. For some people with pre-existing trauma, practicing mindfulness meditation can trigger PTSD symptoms like emotional overwhelm. If you have any concerns about this, you are advised to check in with your health care provider and the teacher in advance for guidance, or not take the class.
